January 2008 Braces Poll

#1 Post by bbsadmin »

With the start of a new year, we all think about resolutions for improving ourselves and our lives. This year, do your resolutions include your teeth or your braces?

Feel free to add comments to this thread after you vote!

I'm the owner/admin of this site. Had ceramic uppers, metal lowers ~3 years in my early 40's. Now in Hawley retainers at night!

I voted no, because I'm 99.9% certain that I will not be debanded this year, and I never make NY resolutions anyway. I'm optimistic that 2009 will be THE year I finally get my smile.

OK, so why has this poll had over 30 views so far but less than 10 votes? Hmmmm.....

I technically made the decision to get braces several months ago.

BUT actually going through with it started today, which was after the new year. I could have backed out until this morning...but now they have my money, hehe. And the decision even back then was "I'll get braces at the first of the year."

So I said "yes."
Braced for the first time on January 17th, 2008!
Planned with OrthoCAD iQ
Damon 3 ("social six") and 3MX brackets
Estimated treatment time: 18-20 months

This is what I'm going for!

I'll admit that I viewed a time or two without voting. I couldn't figure out that I needed to be logged in to vote. I was logging in to ask you how to vote, when I realized that I might have the answer!

I voted "yes" because I want to continue flossing, brushing and going to my dental appointments to keep up my oral health.

Braces are off - that's the best I can do involving my teeth! :D

I hope I get my braces off this year. Well another year to go...
maybe I can get them off temorarily for a vacation...
I'd be happy if I got them off even a MONTH early :D
I'm supposed to get them off in January 2009. If it takes any longer, i don't know what I'll do!

I added a reminder after the question so that there won't be any other confusion about needing to be logged in to be able to vote!

I tend to view my braces as an outside-of-me process. Aside from keeping up my dental health (which I'd do anyways, braces or not), I don't have any tasks to do for my braces. :)
Braces Type: Powerprox ("Six Month" Braces), worn 9/27/2007 through 5/12/2008
My dentist: Lakeside Dental in Lake Zurich, IL

I voted "no" because I don't believe in new years resolutions. They tend to be yet another thing to get depressed about when I break them.

No, I don't usually make resolutions. If I do, I forget them within a week or so. Haha

It's either late this year or January next year that I'm debanded. Most likely January.

I started my braces August 2006, and as of right now I have been told May of 2008, so finally, its all gonna be worth it, YAY.

I voted no. For one thing, I don't make new year's resolutions, so that's probably the main reason :D And I only got my braces on 3 weeks ago, so there's absolutely zero chance of getting them off this year. I'm hoping that I'll see some good progress over the course of this year though.
