Got First Trays... Have Questions!!!

Hi All...

I got my first set of Invisalign trays on Monday and have a few questions/observations...

1. I am feeling no pain and very little pressure. I thought that I would feel more than this... I've been wearing Essix retainers for the past 6wks to keep my teeth in place after slenderizing.... they hurt worse than the Invisalign, by far.

2. The ortho asst. told me that I couldn't go to another set of trays until there is no more tray space at the edge of my teeth. Right now, esp. on the bottom tray, I have several millimeters of space left... my front teeth are not all the way into the trays (they are in back, though). Anyone know about this? I'm guessing that as my back teeth move, the trays will move down on my front teeth??? I'm confused!!!!

3. I'm surprised at how thin and flexible the trays are. After wearing Essix retainers, this is a breeze... no lisp or anything.

4. Once they put the bumps on, do they stay for most of the treatment? I have an overabundance of bumps... 8 on top (including on one front tooth) and 8 on bottom... UGH!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Here are my answers to your questions:

1. A lot of people comment that they don't feel anything with the first set. Maybe Invisalign uses the first set as a training set or something. Or maybe you'll just have a pressure free treatment. :D

2. As your teeth move the trays will start fitting correctly. It probably does have something to do with the back teeth needing to move more so the front teeth will fit correctly in the aligner. If after two weeks the situation hasn't improved then tell your ortho since it shouldn't be like that.

4. Once they put the bumps on your stuck (sorry the pun) with them till the end of treatment. You'll get used to them really fast and forget you even have them!

Good Luck!!
