Invisalign and TMJ

#1 Post by C11 »

An ortho told me she could treat me with Invisalign following treatment with a TMJ specialist. It's been nearly a year with 24/7 splint wear, and I'm considering having her treat me when I finish any month now. Another ortho told me Invisalign wouldn't be best for my case (as in he wouldn't treat it with Invisalign; it isn't an option with him). Are any of you getting Invisalign treatment with TMJ, and if so, how is it going? Thanks!

I have gotten several and I do mean several consultations with many orthodontists and 1 out of 9 said that they would be able to treat me with invisalign but it wouldn't be the greatest of all results and that I would likely spending more time with invisalign then I would with traditional braces.

I have TMJ and have seen several dentists over the past year. After not being happy with recommendation of total mouth restoration from one dentist I decided to go back to my general dentist who recommended invisilign. I figured it would be the least invasive all the treatments and seemed to make sense. I am now into the second week of my first tray, I know this is a big commitment. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will get used to wearing them and that this will just become routine. I am hoping this message board will be informative and supportive during my journey.
Thanks.
