Invisalign wear while waiting for refinement trays

#1 Post by calvinknight »

Just completed initial 20/20 Invisalign trays, I'm now waiting (up to six weeks) for refinement trays to arrive. The iTero scan was done with my current 13 attachments still on my teeth, though I'm told the refinements will require fewer attachments. Is it normal to have the refinement scan done with current attachments still in place?

We generally leave all of the attachments on for scans unless something in the plan changes. Most of our patients prefer not to have to go through an attachment removal and replacement appointment. By leaving the attachments on for the scan, it also allows your current aligners to hold your teeth in better position than if the attachments were not in place.

Thanks for the reply, taking scans for refinement trays with old attachments in place was no problem. Now on a series of 15 refinement trays with 12 attachments in different locations from the first attachments. Looking forward to wrapping this up soon!
