Can Invisalign help with bite issues?

Hi ~~ I wrote an intro post in another sub-forum. In a nutshell, I fractured my jaw in a cycling accident this spring and had to have it wired together while it was healing. My Oral Surgeon has been saying all along that I would need ortho. treatment after I am done with his care. First he mentioned Invisalign, then he said I might be better off with standard brackets.
I'm wondering about this. My major issue is my bite still being a bit off (overbite and molars not matching up perfectly) as well as the centerlines of my upper and lower jaws not matching up (crossbite?) My teeth are slightly crooked but have been like this for years, and that doesn't bother me at age 56 as I am not seeking cosmetic perfection; I just want to be able to chew & function normally.
Are bite problems like mine something that Invisalign can correct?
I know that my ortho will be able to answer my questions, but I haven't been released from my oral surgeon yet to go to ortho so just wanted to get some idea ahead of time from those of you who have Invisalign.
Thanks!
