Separators/spacers

Is it normal to get spacers/separators before invisalign? I have a second round (after 31 trays) starting on 7/10, and the ortho called me the other day asking me to come in on 7/9 (day before) to get spacers. I can't remember if I did this for my first set of trays, but figured I would ask on here.

My ortho is an elite provider, and I absolutely trust him. But figured I would ask if anyone has gone through the same?

I've never had Invisalign, only regular braces, but I didn't think they did spacers for the aligners. I'm sure your ortho has a plan you'll have to ask about! Most of the time spacers are in for more than a day, so that does sound interesting.

If used with Invisalign, it is possible you will be needing IPR and your doctor wants to create a little bit of space between the teeth where it might otherwise be difficult due to overlap of the teeth. Keep us posted!

Good information Dr. Tam, makes sense. Could that be spacers between incisors too if doing IPR there?

Appreciate the response. I will definitely let you know the outcome next Friday.

Separators can be placed between any teeth. Long ago, before they had proper bonding of braces, every tooth required a band around it, including the incisors. Separators were placed between all of the teeth. Couldn't have been very pleasant!
