After Clearstep

#1 Post by HanC »

Hello all,
I've come to the end of my Clearstep treatment and am very happy with how my teeth are looking. My last and final retainer split today so I'm already being asked to pay £60 to get a new final retainer. I'm about to go for an appointment to see if i can get the bonded wire retainer so I'm wondering if anyone has any advice about these retainers?

Basically - I'm not keen on the thought of relying on the brace style retainers, especially as one has already split after about 2 months! But can I rely on the wire alone? Does this last a long time or should I expect to keep paying to reaffix this?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Nice username, works for me too!

I will be getting bonded and a removable Essix. I know of cases through this forum where a bonded retainer has failed and teeth have moved a fair bit so they needed to be rebraced.

I was always advised to have the bonded but to wear an additional removable at night too, whether it be an Essix or Hawley-the belt and "braces" approach ;-)
