Invisalign - Time between appointments

#1 Post by DMT »

I have read in a lot of places that it is typical to wear each set of aligners for two weeks and to receive three sets at each visit to the orthodontist. However, my ortho has placed me on a 5 week appointment interval while wearing each set of aligners for 2.5 weeks each. On this schedule, my treatment time will be extended by approximately 2 months - I have 21 sets of aligners (upper and lower). Dr. Rick or Dr. Randall or anyone - what would be the reasoning behind the extended wear time per aligner set?

Thanks

Because sometimes the teeth do not move enough in 2 weeks. I have most of my Invisalign patients on 2.5-3 weeks to make sure it works.

I flipped back and forth between 2 and 3 weeks, and at the very end I was wearing some of them 4 weeks. Every doc has different ideas about what works better, and everyones teeth behave differently.
