very experienced invisalign provider or orthodontist

#1 Post by ox123 »

Hi!

This is my first post :) After months of contemplating what to do about my teeth for my teeth I have finally decided to go with Invisalign after a number of consultations, but I'm stuck between two providers!

Provider A is a guy who is very experienced with Invisalign, and has lots of positive reviews, and posts as an invisalign expert on a few clinical like websites I've seen. During my consultation he had loads of previous cases to show and really seemed to understand my problems and concerns. He really emphasised his approach to move teeth back and widen the arch rather than having to perform IPR, i.e. full arch. But despite the amount of cases he's done, he isn't actually an orthodontist. From the photo's he's shown me it seems he has experience of treating overbites similar to mine. £4000 (central London, Harley Street)

Provider B I came across from an online consultation, and spoke to him over the phone. He was very knowledgeable as well, and an actual orthodontist specialising in invisible braces (invisalign and lingual). However I havn't seen any before and afters, and he approached the overbite issue as being more that he didn't think it would be a problem, he is just going to straighten both arches best he can. I've only read one or two good reviews and no bad. I want to ask him for some before/afters but don't want to have to pay the consultation fee to see him. £250 more, but unfortunately only does appointments on 2 days of the week.

So I suppose it comes down to a more experienced non-othodontist or less experienced (but still well experienced) orthodontist.

Forum posts always end up being longer than I expect - sorry ! And thanks to everyone whos comments have encouraged me to bite the bullet and go for Invisalign!

Personally, I was only interested in Invisalign so I went with the most experienced Invisalign provider I could find. The dentist I choose is an Elite Invisalign provider and has more experience than any dentist or ortho in my state.

If I was open to other options, I would have gone to an orthodontist.

If I were in your shoes, I'd go with the person who has seen cases similar to yours and has the most experience with Invisalign.

Just my 2 cents...good luck!

Hi,

If I can throw another place into the mix, as I've had mine done in London.......check out Ultrasmile in Limehouse. I am just coming to the end of my treatment and cannot recommend them enough, I was with Dr Ngheim and he's fantastic. Appointments can be booked up till about 7pm I think, although I usualy go for lunchtime appointments as I work in the City and can easily be there and back plus have the appointment in an hour!

They are doing a 50% off promotion at the moment:

Good luck!

I went with a dentist rather than ortho. At the free consultation he seemed to know what he was talking about and was able to show me examples. He even had attachments on his own teeth to show patients what they look like. He convinced me.

The orthos in my area wanted £250 just to speak to me, and I was worried by their price list (FROM £4000! - the 'from' part scared me).

The dentist had a fixed cost for invisalign and he was able to give me a price up front for free. I decided to risk it even though deep down I'd rather someone with orthodontic training do the treatment. I doubt I could have justified to myself the extra cost of having the ortho, and probably would have wasted £250 on a consult and then backed out of the whole process.

I'm on set 20 out of 24, and haven't regretted my desicion so far.

I would go with the one that has had more experience with invisalign (who had more cases)

Thanks everyone. In the end I decided to go with the ortho as he is a platinum provider too, and he made me feel very secure and happy with him - he is very personal eg phoning me up to talk through treatment and my concerns.

After a few minor hickups with timing I finally got my invisalign on last night and am so far quite pleased!

I have 9 attachments in total including on my canines which are a little noticeable but I was prepared for that. And so far I have found the alligners pretty easy to remove and put on.

Feeling a little apprehensive about my first day in public (a picnic unfortunately!) but overall very pleased and would say to anyone worried about whether to have Invisalign or not to go for it - I wish I'd got mine on a year ago!

Thanks again this thread has been fantastic in informing me!

Hi

I'm in the process of deciding who to get an Invisalign consultation from in central London and wondered if you could help and let me know me the names of the clinics/providers you saw (by private message if you prefer). I think it's going to be really important to me to find someone I trust but can't afford to have loads of consultations in order to find the right person.

I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't mind letting me know who you saw. Thanks! :D
