Invisalign Question

Does Invisalign require the use of spacers? I received a set of 8 spacers today, and I just wanted to know if this is normal for Invisalign.
When they are planning to do a significant amount of stripping between the teeth at one time, spacers can be placed to have better access with a handpiece (drill).
