Are all the trays made at the same time?

Are all the trays made at the same time?

#1 Post by dale »

My treatment calls for 23 upper and 23 lower trays over the next 2.5 years. Are all of the trays manufactured at the beginning of treatment? Or is it just a few at a time?

Dale, from what I understand, they are all made at the same time. Your ortho probably has them in a drawer somewhere in the office. My question to you is....how long are you wearing each tray?? I think the norm is two weeks, so 23 trays would be less than a year. If you truely are in treatment for 2.5 years, that would be 5.6 weeks/tray. unless you are switching to regular braces after the 46 weeks??

Pearlie, you're right...I can't believe I never thought about the timing. I'm supposed to wear my next tray for 3 weeks, so even even taking the average of 2 and 3 week-timeframes, it's about 58 weeks, a far cry from 2.5 years! I know I saw something that said my estimated length of treatment is 30 months...maybe that includes refinements.
