Hi everybody
When I went to consultation for getting linguals I was told that they wouldn't work for me. And since I'm not very fond of the idea of getting regular braces I sort of accepted my situation. But I am starting to wonder if I gave up too early? Should I get a second opinion? Have anybody else had the same experience? I thought that linguals would work for everyone... I don't remember exactly why they wouldn't work. Does anybody know any restrictions for the linguals?
thanks
Linguals, not for everyone?

My understanding as a lay person with linguals was that linguals were an option for anyone that would qualify for regular braces. Is the ortho that you spoke with qualified to fit linguals? Without sounding too skeptical it may be that because he or she doesn't do them they are trying to keep your business as opposed to referring it on. There should be a national dental association in your country that can refer you to orthos in your area quailfied to fit linguals (try a google search!). My advice would be to book a consultation with one of them and take their advice. In all honesty you can't really expect someone who isn't qualified to give you advice about something they know very little about.
My best advice would be to go to at least 3 different orthodontists to seek out their opinions.
I was interested in linguals before going on consultations, so I went on their site to find 3 orthodontists. http://www.lingualcare.com/
Each evaluated my situation and and since I was a candidate, they explained my treatment and pricing options with both linguals and normal braces.
Just as invisilign isn't a treatment option for everyone, lingualcare does have limititations. This is something that you should speak to those orthodontists about. It is in both of your best interests to go with the treatment option where you will receive optimum results.
I hope this helps.
