drinking soda and invisalign...question!

#1 Post by Olivia »

I like drinking a die coke once in a while, but I have been told once that you must not brush your teeth right after you had a soda, it will be very bad for the enamel..Does that mean that, while on invisalign, you can not drink soda? (because you have to brush right after and put the aligner back in...?)

Thanx in advance!

There have been discussions on this topic in the past ... try a search for "enamel". Here's one ...

I've got an idea.

Wash your mouth out with milk after drinking soda. The milk has a basic PH. So it should neutralize the acid from the soda. Then wash out the milk with water and brush as you normally would.

Dr Clarence Tam has just written a post about soda and how long you should wait to brush your teeth see: http://greatsmilenz.wordpress.com/2012/ ... our-smile/

Basically, with invisalign you can take the retainer off to brush whenever you feel like it!

p.s. the wash your mouth out with milk suggestion sounds disgusting
