Newbie on Day Four....It is Getting Better!

#1 Post by kymccc »

Hello all,

I am new to the boards and to Invisalign. I am on day four! I have 23 trays upper and lower and only four attachments :) My ortho said he added in the three trays at the end for "over-correction" and does not think we will use them but we shall see. So far so good. I am a little nervous about having them out to long for meals but I am averaging 21.5 hrs so I think I will be OK. I struggled with a feeling of claustrophobia more than any pain..like I just wanted them off to let my teeth breath. That is going away now. At first I thought...omg, how can I do this for forty weeks? I feel much better today.

For some additional motivation I peeked at my #5 aligners and put them side by side with this first set. Wow....the teeth do look different and that is only the fifth set! I am happy to say that I have not had any problems taking them out at all and many of the things I worried about never happened. I have one small canker sore where one of the attachments rubs my bottom lip but its minor.

I was disappointed to see that I had 23 on my Invisalign box...I was expecting to require way less trays as my ortho said I was not a difficult case at all with minor crowding. I am 42 years old so maybe that plays into it?? I am just thrilled to be doing this.....put both of my children through braces and they have gorgeous teeth. Now its my turn! I love these boards...thanks everyone!

Hi there!

I'm new to Invisalign and this site as well and I'm on day 2 with my first trays. It's funny because I totally relate with your feeling claustrophobic as i also feel the need to take them out not out of pain but just to have them off my teeth. I hope your experience continues to go well!

Thanks.....it is definitely getting better day by day. On day four today I barely notice them. On Monday I was wondering if I had made a huge mistake. I guess it can only get better from here!
