kids and braces

#61 Post by skyclad »

I have 2 kids (7 and 4) and I already know they need braces and so i know I have to bust my tail to be able to afford them so that they dont have to figure out how to pay for them.

I am paying for my own unless some kind generous person decides to do so. (fat chance)

How did your 5's become dislodged from the archwire?

Had an adjustment on Valentine's Day.

I wrote about it in the blog, but I warn you, it's kind of angry-sounding.

My new ortho saga is not going well.

Pictures should be up tonight or tomorrow.

Hi Alexa,

Sorry about your situation, that really sucks. I would be pissed off and bitter about the whole thing, too. That's really messed up about the payment thing too, why dont they just put a dunst cap on you? Silly, but i mean really. I'd never want to go back either.

Your new ortho sounds really terrible, you should write a letter and tell her exactly how you feel. Or just freak out and yell at her! lol, jk.

Anyway, good luck and i hope things improve.

I like the color coordination, your teeth look nice. Be glad when mine get there.

struggle-- Yay! I've been wondering where you've been and how your teeth are doing! Thanks for checking out my progress! :D

linda21-- Thanks! It's actually gone by pretty fast when I stop to think about it. It (my treatment) certainly dragged its feet through the middle, but it's starting to feel good again now. 8)

skyclad -- I go to Western Dental for ortho, though I've never had any other dental work done there. I appreciate the price tag that comes with a Western Dental treatment, but their lousy chairside manner, rude office staff and long wait times are certainly things I wish I had known about prior to signing that contract. :?

Don't mean to discourage you from using them for dental work. It certainly is a great option if you need to get seen immediately (it's sort of first come first serve...even if you have an appt.....so they often allow drop ins), or if money is an issue. You should just be aware of the negative stuff too.

skyclad--

let me add now, after having read your post on the main board, that since this is about money, go to Western Dental. What I said about the bad wait times and the like, it's true....BUT...it's totally worth it, if it's your only option for braces. I don't regret getting braces, and I know that Western was probably the only way I could've really achieved it on my budget.

The nitty gritty can be annoying, but the treatment itself has done wonders for my smile. 8)

Alexa,
I am, like you i have no choice financially. My mom thinks i should wait to get braces til im done with payinbg for dental work. not gonna happen. Whether she likes it or not im getting my braces as soon as they will put them on.
I have 2 appts next week and we will see how many fillings we can accomplish each time.
some of the wait times are horrible. like the time i got my exam. i sat in a chair waiting for a dentist to come over and talk to me.
its funny but the ortho wait was much shorter.
I really want clear but am getting metal again because of money.
