four teeth removed questions

I had four teeth removed on Tue morning. It took about 2 hours. I guess I have long and wickedly curved roots.
I have been in so much pain, it is unbelievable. From what I have read with other peoples experiences it didn't take this long or hurt this much. I got checked again today. He glanced into my mouth and said that I didn't have dry socket, but he gave me some tylenol 3 and some anitbiotics. He just said that with how stubborn my teeth were it was probably just going to hurt for awhile. So has anyone ever had this type of extraction? It kinda upsets me that he didn't just give me the tylenol at first, he didn't seem very surprised to see me. I feel like such a wimp when I hear about other people who have gone back to work the next day. I am a stay at home mom, and pretty much did go back to work the next day with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old, but not quite the same thing. So just curious if anyone else had such a horrible experience.
