Has anyone gotten Medicaid (US) to cover their surgery?

#1 Post by neongiri »

Hello all! I'm new to this forum. It is a pleasure to be here.

I am located in Massachusetts and currently have MassHealth (BMC Healthnet Community Alliance) under my parents. I am currently looking into orthognathic surgery but it seems that only one surgeon in Boston takes my insurance. Has anyone here gotten Medicaid to cover their surgery? What was the process like?

I have been trying to get help, but it has been impossible to find people who take my insurance plan. If this doesn't work out, I was thinking of switching plans after I age out of my parent's plan, so if anyone has recommendations, that would be great!

I’ve never heard of anyone getting approval for coverage under Medicaid, but that’s not to say it’s necessarily disallowed. Consider calling them and asking, or visit an in-network oral-maxillofacial surgeon and have then submit it to your insurance. Do you know what criteria you think you might qualify under? I got it approved by BCBS in NY for sleep apnea. Good luck!!
