Experiences with SARPE or MSE

#1 Post by aasiyah1422 »

I've been recommended MSE for a narrow arch before jaw surgery, much more V-shaped than normal. My only worry is the asymmetrical expansion, and similarly with SARPE, just the surgery itself and teeth mobility afterwards and the risks involved. My teeth have already been orthodontically expanded (which was a waste) and I'm still stuck with narrow jaws. For those that have done SARPE or MSE, how has your outcome been? Any idea how long total treatment time would be to just expand the jaw and move the teeth back? Do you need to wait a while after the teeth have been moved just to see if the roots are fine? Any experiences of those with these procedures would be very helpful.

Hi too, I have a similar situation, how old are you?
Can MSE palate expansion on miniscrews be done at any age?

I tried MSE (45 male), and it failed.

Now scheduled for SARPE at the end of this month.

Looking forward to putting this behind me. I am nervous about waking up from surgery, how will I feel, what kind of shape will I be in?

Failed as in no expansion/palate separation?
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

Yes you are right, it did nothing for me!

SARPE on the other hand has given me a gap I could drive a truck through!
