Soft chew diet only the second week after jaw surgery?

#1 Post by Ddetterline2 »

I’m on my fourth week of recovery from my jaw surgery going into week five. My surgeon let me go on a soft chew diet on week two, and even though I have been successfully able to do it I’m
Worried he put me on a soft chew diet too fast because usually it is six weeks. I’m hoping this doesn’t affect my recovery or my facial profile outcome?

If that's what your doctor says, I'd trust him/her.

Though personally, that's quite early. My doctors were very ambitious and still required me to wait six weeks before chewing. If it doesn't bother you, I'd wait. It won't do any harm waiting to start chewing. The risk is of course using too much force and disrupting the newly formed, still weak jaw structure.

My 2 cents.
