Do rubber bands makes your bite better or worst? (Got mixed answers)

#1 Post by Ddetterline2 »

I went to my orthodontist today and I finally got to talk to a different orthodontist since my original one wasn’t there, and this one answered my questions finally. So apparently In orthodontic time I’m only 5 months in my one year treatment.. although it’s been 7 months actually ): Anyway she told me they don’t do molds until I’m close to surgery and the year is up. She also told me the rubber bands they put in today would close up my open spaces then beaces caused between my teeth, but it would make my bite worst. Alrhough what I’m confused about is the assistance who put the thicker wires on me and put the rubber bands on said the bands were suppose to make my bite better so I’m totally confused. Isn’t the point of this to make my bite worse so my teeth can fit for surgery or is it suppose to make it better so it can fit for surgery? He also said my teeth aligned perfectly with the braces which is totally confuaing since I have to wait 8 more months until surgery.
