Post bsso op

#1 Post by fobot »

Hi all

Had my lower jaw surgery done 6 days ago (braces have been on for 2 years to get me ready). Actually been pretty smooth overall, havent really taken any pain killers, swelling isnt too bad now. Im cheating the no chew diet and eating things i can just swallow whole (small rice and mince pieces etc)

Only concern - my lower midline is off by maybe 1mm. Had my first catchup with my surgeon yesterday, he wasnt really concerned. He's adjusted my elastics to pull my jaw over in a kind of rhombus shape. Will this actually do anything? its really uncomfortable and I can feel constant pressure, but can it actually move the jaw? next checkup is in 2 weeks so just checking what others experiences were like

This was a pic straight after surgery, elastics have moved now: https://imgur.com/a/fVjheEC

thanks!

I can't speak to your particular situation but my midline is well off post op as well but both my surgeon and orthodontist have sworn it will be fixed with the final invisalign sets i'll get to finish off my treatment.
