First post! I have been a long time observer of these forums but have decided at 30ish it’s time to start the long process that is corrective jaw surgery.
I was wondering if anyone from Sydney, Australia has any recommendations of surgeons and/or orthodontists? I realise from searching the forums this question has been asked previously but thought I’d ask again incase of any newly established surgeons that haven’t yet been mentioned.
The advice I’ve received from friends in nursing/medicine is that there are two main options: a plastic surgeon (FRACS), or an oral/maxillofacial surgeon (FRACDS (OMS)) who is both a dentist and medical doctor with further specialist training in facial surgery. I’m not sure if one is generally more preferred for corrective jaw surgery procedures. Does anyone have any advice regarding this, specifically relating to the Australian system?
