(5mo post-op) Lip incompetence + large upper lip

#1 Post by bighoss »

Hi,

Could anyone express some thoughts on two of my concerns post-op?

Picture for reference: http://i.imgur.com/Zsf4Vp2.jpg

Upper lip: There is some noticeable scar tissue under my upper lip on the gum line. Could this be pushing my upper lip forward and making it look bigger? Also, is it possible my upper lip is swollen 5 months post-op?

Lip incompetence: My surgeon moved my upper jaw down approximately 4mm. At 5 months post-op is this lip incompetence likely permanent or could my lip placement still adjust naturally as the scar tissue heals under both lips?

I have the same look, and I am worried that I have lip incompetence after the surgery.

Did the surgeon only move your jaw down or did he move it forward as well? I really don't see an issue with your lip but I don't think I can tell from that picture. They usually say 6-12 months before everything settles but I think that's a long time for anyone to wait...
