Looking for insight on chewing progression

#1 Post by bighoss »

Hi,

I will be permitted to start chewing again within about 2 weeks. Can fellow jaw surgery victims give a good list of food to progress with?

Example:
First week... start with pastas, tender fish, etc.
Second week... muffins, soft bread, fruit, etc.

My surgeon did not provide any advice other than pace myself and expect to be back to a normal diet within 1-2 months.

Yes I started with fish then ground beef pattie then chicken and lastly steak. Its very easy to hurt your jaw when switching to harder foods so take it slow and be careful. I ate smashed spaghetti Os a lot when I was hungry but could not have meats yet.

Eggs are a great place to start. Tons of protein and easy to chew.

Stick to softer foods with a high return on investment and take your time. You'll know when you over-do-it.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

Can anymore users chime in? I'm looking for some brief timelines of chewing progression.

I was thinking week one for breakfast I would be eating french toast, pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, etc. Lunch, perhaps pastas or lasagna.
