Hi everyone,
I will have the wire removed this week and I've had a difficult time finding stories on this.
How painful is it during the process?
Where you sedated or only given normal pain killers?
Was your jaw uncomfortable and painful during hours after the process ?

My ortho would prefer to see me the same day, I think it might be too much for my mouth, but I'm not sure..... any advice is welcomed! :D

I wasn't wired shut post op, so I can't speak to that, but I will say that my first ortho adjustment post op was not as terrible as I thought it would be. I had some irritating moments with surgical hooks poking my gums, but having new wires put in and returning to power chains instead of wire ties was pretty normal. I felt pressure, but not a lot of pain from that and it subsided pretty quickly.

Well it was today, I am at two weeks from surgery.
I called and asked if they were going to give me pain medicine or sedation and they said it was not necessary

Before I got to my appointment I took the pain medicine they had given me post-op just in case. The process was not painful but it was uncomfortable on the corners of my mouth
because they are still a chapped and I can't stretch my mouth too much. They put me in rubber bands.
