Lip incompetence and nasal breathing
Now, this may sound silly but its something that I constantly wonder about: I have a convex facial profile with an obtuse chin (literally), protruding upper lip, and lip incompetence (the closest example I could find is this: http://www.ispub.com/journal/the-intern ... g02.ns.jpg - I don't think I'm as "severe" as the patient in the photo though). I've seen so many different kinds of retrognathic facial profiles that I feel its important to find an example that most "accurately" portrays my case. Anyways, I don't know if its only me, but I find it rather difficult to breathe through my nose and hold my bottom lip up simultaneously--so I find myself holding my breathe a lot. I have to tell myself to inhale and exhale through my nose, otherwise, I'll just not breathe while I keep my lips together - talk about exhausting and strenuous. Does anyone else experience this?
