Going out to eat on my birthday?

#1 Post by planetpluto »

I am in the stage where I am dreaming about food.. I had a Lefort 1 and I don't know the name for what he did to my lower jaw-basically, it was angled wrong so he changed the angle (and yes he broke it to do this). Surgery was Oct 22nd. I now have some feeling in my face and can smile-but my face is still numb. My question is-he put me on a no-chew soft diet yesterday (WITH 5 bands). He will remove most bands and have me take off the bands to start eating Nov 22nd-my birthday. I'd like to go out w/ friends for happy hour. A bad idea? I've read about how so many have trouble in the beginning. I can open my mouth about 1/2 of an inch w/ bands-perhaps a bit more today.

Everyone's different, but I was able to go out for a few a month after my surgery. That being said, err on the side of caution, as healing properly from the surgery takes priority. Also, if you are going to be drinking, you may want to refrain from smoking. Happy Early Birthday! Mine is coming up on the 18th.. How old are you turning?

I'll be 36. And by "going out" i mean going out to eat, as well as one drink.... Guess I'll see how it goes after the Dr unfastens some of my bands. I have 5 now and am supposed to eat with those-but he says he'll remove most (so meaning I'll have 3) before my birthday and I'll be eating w/o bands.
