Lower lip question for you BSSO chaps...

I'm closing in on 8 months post op (BSSO/genio), and everything is going pretty well -- I easily crush whole coconuts in my jaws, and sharks generally swim away from me if I smile underwater -- my lower lip is persistently dry and chapped.
During and after my hospital stay (2 days), I was given cortisone cream to apply frequently to my then-swollen lips, because obviously they were in bad shape right after surgery. The surgeon instructed me to take the cream with me when I was discharged, and I continued to use it for another couple of months till the tube ran out. Then I bought more. It seems to help slightly, but I don't want to go on using it forever. Blistex and other lip stuff are just temporary fixes.
Question for BSSO peeps: did you find it hard to keep your lower lip moist post op, and did it get back to normal at some point?
