Different surgery methods/different recovery times?

#1 Post by projo198 »

I had my surgery about 8 weeks ago, it was a LONG and hard recovery. I upper and lower jaw surgery and my cheekbones advanced.

Now I have a guy who works for me that came in today after his similar surgery 2 weeks ago. Almost the same work except the cheekbones. He looks great, is talking well and starts work again tomorrow. I TOOK 7 weeks off and can only now talk to where people understand me!

Only thing I can think of is that he has scars from where they went in from the OUTSIDE, mine was all through my mouth (thus the torn mouth corner). He also mentioned some type of lasers used for the cutting. I think mine was all conventional. (His was a civilian facility, I used a military hospital).

Did the surgery method make the difference for him, or am I just a big WEENIE! Got people here at work jarring me about it.

Your comparing apples to oranges. We would need to know both physical shapes and condition of both of you two. age, all kinda stuff.

Many many factors come in play. Sounds like you two even had different surgeries.
If your healing fine thats what is important.

As pointed out above, there are sooo many factors that go into healing and recovery time.

However, I feel like there are usually more problems/issues with military doctors. I went to an ex-military doctor who now has his own practice w/ ex military doctor's and decided not to go with him. He seemed arrogant and was a little rough in the consultation. Then I read reviews, which confirmed my fears.

Anyhow, if you're recovering now and everything is good, don't worry about it. It's like parents who compare their kids to other people's kids; they're all different and on a different pace!
