Kissing Anyone???

#1 Post by Graceful58 »

I'm curious...it's been since Dec 31st when I had my lower jaw advanced and my chin reduced. I am just finishing up the settlement phase of my divorce and so I have not kissed anyone since my surgery. I still have numbness in my chin area and lower lip. How has kissing been for those of you who were still numb? I'm a bit concerned that I haven't gotten back more feeling by now but I'm more concerned with if I'm going to be able to kiss like I was able to before my surgery.

Anyone?

I had a sliding genioplasty 2 years ago and I still have partial numbness on half my lower lip and half my chin. Honestly, it hasn't diminished the sensation of kissing for me and I never think about it when I'm with someone.

I'm glad to know its not just me. My wife has accepted that right now I can kiss but it just isn't the same. My upper lips pretty much works. My lower lip feels like a wax lip that you'd get at a cheap five and dime.

Still, with practice and exercise it will get better!

It does get better. I had my doubts when I was still numb at like 8 months post-op but eventually you do heal and you get that feeling back and can kiss and other things like you did before surgery.
