i was at my orthodontist consult today! i have an 8 mm overbite abd crooked bottom teeth..he said if he uses braces alone the bite will be inproved some but won.t be perfect

his ideal treatment 1 yr in braces lower jaw expansion surgery followed by another 6 months in braces!

i havent decided which route to go.im thinking the surgery would provide the best results..im scard to death of that option..

Hey :D

I had a BSSO lower jaw advancement of 13mm in february 2008. Your find my blog at the bottom of the page, tho some of it sounds aweful (i had recovery more on the worse end of the scale with a few complications) your see i thought it was all worth it in the end.

Good luck with your decision.

Welcome, braceface!

You'll find lots of useful information at archwired. The problem sometimes is sifting through it all, but it is here.

Ask lots of questions. I'm sure you'll have a better idea after the surgical consult.

My suggestion to you--don't be afraid to ask the surgeon EXACTLY what he proposes, and if you don't understand, remember, it is YOUR JAW!

Be well, and at peace,

Phil
