Appointmetnt with Dr. Bloomquist

#1 Post by ReoSity »

Due to Gunson/Arnett being totally out of my price range and insurance not covering it, I'm seeing Dr. B next week since over e-mail he indicated he could also treat my case. I'm curious about other people's experiences with Dr. Bloomquist, how thorough is the consultation and how was your surgery experience? I did a search already in this forum and found some people who had surgery with him, but most of them were years ago. I'm hoping the consult goes well because his fee's are so much more affordable compared to the other top guys!

I too considered Dr Bloomquist because Gunson and Arnett are very expensive. I was turned down by Dr. Bloomquist because I have TMJ. Apparently, he does not want to get involved with patients with TMJ issues. Even if I didn't have TMJ, I wouldn't want to go to a surgeon who avoids TMJ. There is the possibility of TMJ caused by orthognathic surgery and you'd be stuck with a surgeon who doesn't deal with TMJ. Your choice, but it sounds like something I'd avoid if I were you.

That's interesting, kinda sounds like he's being honest about what his expertise is and I've already got my plane ticket so can't back out now. Hopefully this consult won't be a waste of time because then I'll probably have to put off the whole notion of surgery for a while.

Hello,

I realize I'm bumping an old thread but plan to consult with Bloomquist soon. Any updates here? Did anybody else go with him? I have some questions about the consultation process as well as his surgical technique.

Hi, I'm very new to all of this jaw surgery stuff (don't even have braces yet) but am also interested in hearing more about Dr. Bloomquist. I just started seeing an ENT/sleep specialist last week and he recommended Dr. Bloomquist since I have mild sleep apnea. I'm planning to get a consultation, so if no one else replies, I'll at least let you know how mine went. It might be awhile; everything has been going pretty slow for me.
