Cheek

#1 Post by scraggy »

Since my operation now 3 weeks post op, every time I close my teeth for my new bite my cheek gets in the way. I can't feel it but now I have this ridge type thing. The only way I can stop it from happening is to use my finger to move it out the way.

I don't know what they can do to stop this from happening.

Will they cut my cheek out thd way, Because I dont think it will move it self out of the way.

Any advice would be fantastic. Ty all.

It may still be swollen and go down over time. I would ask your surgeon about it. I have part of my scar tissue on my cheek that I sometimes bite when I chew big things, but overall it doesn't get in the way all the time.

I get to see my ortho on Wednesday so will ask him, I hope it can be sorted, thing is I can't feel it so I'm now biting into it. I'm now waking up to find blood all over the pillow were I've bitten it so much.

I knew I was hungry but to eat my self just ain't right. Lol

Same for me, i'm 19 days post op and i have the same problem with the left side of my cheek getting in the way of my bite. Its just caused by swelling and will go away... just try not to keep biting on it because it will keep swelling up xx

Happy healing

I'm so happy to see this thread, because I have the exact same problem 3-wk post-op now that i've started chewing food. I'm really cutting down on the chewing because I just ended up chewing my own cheek. I also feel that part of my cheek is growing into the bracket in my back molar... pls tell me this gets better..

I saw my ortho on the 27 nov and I mentioned it to him. He said it would get better once the braces are off. Well gee thanks that's only a year away. Buy that time I have no check left.

I'm seeing my surgeon on the 4 dec am going to ask him.

But my cheek has got a little bit better but it's still being bitten while I'm asleep in the day I tend to puff my cheeks out do it don't get caught,

It very hard will update once I have seen him,

Best of luck with it Alicia hopefully you might get a better respone than me. Tell next time u have your check up.

Same thing is happening to me. I am 23 days post op and since the swelling has gone down I can feel all the lumps and bumps from incisions and where my braces are catching my cheek. Hope it goes away soon because it feels weird. It feels like I have absolutely no room in my mouth! With every lump I worry that it's an infection too (just because of reading everybody's bad experiences on the net!) but my surgeon said everything was healing nicely 3 days ago so I'll take his word for it.

Thanks for starting this thread, hope it goes away for everyone soon :)

Not an official update - but I'm rinsing my mouth w/ salt water as I hear it helps if you have cuts inside your mouth.

Hi all,

I met with my surgeon as well and he said the swelling will go down over time. Doesn't sound like there's any immediate solution, other than to suck it up for the time being. I'm using my orthodontic wax for now to help.

Now at about 6-weeks post-op I am no longer biting into my cheeks when I eat. There's still some swelling left but it's much better since 2 weeks ago.

Just want to update so that folks who experience the same issue know that this problem does go away after a while.

Alicia so pleased you have stop biting your cheek.

I wish I had stop but it seems if don't want to move out the way. But I am use to it being there now. So I end up puffing my cheeks out when I need to bite.
