Long Thin Face - Options?

#1 Post by niftykettles »

I am what I believe can only be described as a sufferer of 'Long Face Syndome', the last three years or so I have noticed how long and thin my face is and is really having an affect on my psychological health. I am unable to pinpoint the exact cause of it as I'm not really versed in anatomy, all I know is that my face should not be this long.

I live in the UK, what would be the best course of action I should take?

Consult with a maxillofacial surgeon.

It is possible to surgically widen the upper jaw. The lower jaw might require grafting of some sort to widen.

As Maxhammer said, consult with a maxillofacial surgeon. The appearance of a long, thin face is often caused by vertical maxillary excess and a narrow palate.

Find an orthodontist and have a chat, get him to refer you to a max fax surgeon, chances are it will be at your local NHS hospital. See what they recommend for you and take it from there.
