1 year post-op update - still slight swelling but worth it!

#1 Post by Aviv16 »

It's now nearly a year since my surgery (upper + lower + genio) - I saw my surgeon today for the one year follow-up. He studied my x-rays and said they were 'textbook'!!

I've had my braces off since December :D My surgeon agreed that I still have some swelling around my nose/cheeks and said it will continue to go down but he couldn't give me a timeframe. I was relieved to be told that it was swelling, as I do feel my face is still a little puffy. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who notices it though, but it's definitely puffy in the mornings and goes down throughout the day.

So, all is going well! I am very glad to be well and truly on the other side, and getting on with my life. For those preparing for or recovering from surgery, it truly does get better - it may take several months longer than anticipated, but you will get there :) It's all worth it in the end!

A reassuring post Aviv16! To know there can still be swelling after a year means we just have to be patient. I'm now 6 weeks post op and my nose is huge and getting wider. I think the stitch that was holding my nostrils together has gone... So it is good to read that it is realistic to still have swelling to go down. Thanks for posting!
