I haven't actually found it to be too bad with cleaning; now who knows what things will look like when they take out the splint though! Might not be pretty!

I was told to brush gently just over the appliances and teeth from day one with a baby toothbrush, so I've done that, and they gave me a prescription mouthwash to use for 2 weeks, which I'm out of now, so I went and got some over the counter mouthwash without alcohol. I can get mouthwash in there pretty easily and messily drool it out! I also rinse my mouth with salt water after every time I eat.

I think you meant 12 days, not 10.
Noam.

Hi ... about the hygiene aspect of it... ive found really difficult. I've been using the mouthwash however it just dribbles out so doesnt reach all around my mouth. I have been brushing them but thats also difficult because it hurts too much for the sides of my mouth. I have been using little toothpicks to try and pick the dirt from the front of my teeth. Don't really know what else to do?

Hey July buddies.

More of a lurker than a poster, but I'll be having surgery on Friday (hopefully)! I've been telling people I can't wait and they look at me funny. Can't wait to have your face sawed off? But really, I can't!!

I've been running into some problems the past few weeks though. I got sick two weeks ago while I was traveling and had to do everything to nip an upper respiratory infection in the bud immediately. Finally now my sinuses have cleared up and the surgeon said I should be fine for surgery if there is no congestion on the day of.

Then I had to have a couple of surprise spaces in my lower arch closed, which my ortho said closed shockingly fast and shouldn't preclude the surgery.

So hopefully nothing else goes wrong and things are on track!

So how do you explain this ?

Well, it's been a few years but finally I've got my date in July. It's on the 22nd, and I'm a little worried about what state I'll be in when I start university (end of September).
Noam.

Just a quick note to say I'm now home from hospital. It really wasn't bad at all. I ended up having upper and lower but no hip graft.
Swelling is uncomfortable, but no pain. Can't wait for it to subside so I can see results! But seeing my top teeth biting in front of my lower teeth is pretty amazing. Oh, and my nose is now straight :)

Really?

I don't update every single tiny detail. Saying 'It's on the 20th' is enough.

Great to hear the good news Aviv! :) I can't wait either for that 'top teeth in front of lower' moment.

Hope the recovery goes well!

"single tiny detail " ?, lol, most people are pretty sensitive about their date.

It's simply rare that a date is brought forward so close to the surgery date. Usually if the date is changed it's to postpone.
Noam.

Lucky lucky! Great with your nose! And yes, it is really amazing to see that your bite is like it always should have been.. I still can't believe it!

I don't get why it seems like you guys who have the bigger surgeries seem to get over the bad phases quicker? At the hospital they kept talking about how fast I would feel like running the halls but apparently I'm just not very tough? I only had my upper jaw moved forward!

I could have understood your response if I said this can't happen. All I said was it's not common, which together with the fact that you didn't give us this update, led to my confusion. That's all. Relax.
Noam.
