It's been 6 and a half months since my surgery and almost all of the feeling has returned. I still feel some tenderness when I apply pressure to the areas where bone cuts were made. If I sleep on my face the wrong way at night I wake up in a little bit of pain. I expect (or at least hope) that tenderness and numbness will be gone by 9 months post-op. Hang in there...it takes awhile.

i cant wait for this nerve to calm down.

my left chin nerve is 100% fine but the right one is crabby at me. whenever i drink cold water it feels like it goes right along the bottom of the jawbone. also an area from the bottom right corner of my lip down to that corner of the chin is a tingly yet numb area.

it's starting to give me more tingles (and sharp pains once in awhile) so i assume it's trying to figure itself out.
BSSO and Le Fort I surgery + nose straightening done on May 4th.

From what I know in my research, age and where the jaw gets separated plays a part on the chances of recovery....

I found out today that numbness fades away in parts with the very lower chin being first, then the sides next... there is another phase or so and the lips are apparently last. This is for bsso of course.

I had numbness for years after my surgeries, and some parts still aren't normal at all, but they're close. I guess it's been 9 years and 14 years since my surgeries. I actually had worse problems with my upper jaw nerves than the lower jaw nerves - it's my upper left quadrant that still is weird. It probably just depends on the individual case. It sucks though to not have that feeling because you'll get food stuck up there and you can't feel it and no one will tell you about it!

I'm getting ready for my third surgery and I guess it will be interesting to see what the nerves do this time.

I'll be seven months post op the end of August and I still have numbness in my chin area, along my lower teeth area and my lower lip. I have tingling feelings to the touch along my lip and sides of chin...but still no feeling in a small area on the end of my chin about the size of a quarter. That will probably be the spot that stays numb or takes forever to get feeling back. :)

I had feeling since day 1, but my numbness is still bothering me. It's been 5 weeks. My doctor said it'll go away in 2-6 months.
