Hi, had an app today with my consultant to look at my moulds and discuss if i am ready for surgery yet.
He showed me the moulds together how they will look once the surgery is done and explained how much movement there is likely to be.
Basically he told me I have a centimetre gap between my jaws at the moment which is a lot more than i thought. The top jaw will be moved forward 9mm on one side and 11.5mm on the other. Also my lower jaw is off to the right so there will movement to rotate it & correct the asymmetry, which i was unaware of before we spoke.
I had x-rays & photos taken today and they will be sent to my surgeon who will cut the photos up & arrange them against the x-rays to give me an idea what i will look like after surgery.
Im quite excited now cos he told me i am ready now just need to fine tune. Also he said my back teeth, furthest back, on my lower jaw are not sitting in the correct position but that can be fixed after surgery.
I have a joint clinic with my consultant & surgeon on 9th December to discuss fully what will happen & put me on the list for surgery. I guess that app will be to talk things over & maybe look at the photos he has reconstructed for me??
So just wondered from uk patients especially if this sounds like i could be fairly close now and if it's similar to what anyone is going through at the moment or has been through.
Thanks in advance,
Beth x

Yeh that's the impression i was under. I just phoned a lady at the clinic and she told me as long as the surgeon & ortho agree at my next app Dec 9th, then i will be booked in.
Waiting times vary but can be very short depending if my surgeon has any cancer patients in, then they are priority.
So looking quite promising!
Hows about you? What stage are you at?

Hey Beth
Definatley sounds like you are getting close, in my case the ortho said i was ready, but the surgeon disagreed, but once the surgeon was happy i think i had about a 12 week wait between being booked in and the op.
