Anyone with Self Ligating braces and ligs?

Just wondering if anyone has had colored ligs put on their self ligating brackets, and if so how they look. I'm thinking of adding some colors to mine for Valentines day. Since we have the option of using them, I wanted to see some others who have actually gotten them on. Anyone done that???

While I read online that you can use ligs on self-ligating brackets, my ortho office said they don't do it. They mentioned friction, but to them I'm sure it is just an unneccesary waste and cuts into the profit. I decided to go with regular metal brackets on the bottom so I could play around with colors. You could definitely ask and maybe they will do it for you.

Oh, my ortho will do it, I just wondered if anyone else has had them on. I would like to see what they look like. I told him I wasn't that into colors and really I'm not, so I won't be doing it all the time, but thought maybe for Valentines day I might try it out.

Shoot, I think you can even order ligs online if you want. I could put my own on if I wanted to.

I don't think it would look much different than ligs on regular metal brackets.

My ortho strongly recommended against changing my own ligs. I would say that would be even more true for self-ligating brackets. You can snap off your brackets or bend the wire, as well as many other things that would just prolong your treatment.

I wish I had gotten pink ones for V-Day now. Ha, I'll have a couple more years to do it if I decide to.
