99 weeks - THEY ARE OFF!!!!!!! :D

#1 Post by *Marta* »

I just had my last adjustment, can you believe this? :)
I brought a deep-pink rose for the assistant, and an enormous, white rose for my fav ortho!

After looking at my teeth for a while, the ortho said: "So, we're taking them off, ok?"
"Or maybe you have some Special Wishes, you want to change something?" - asked the assistant.
"Well, I just think I want 'em off" - I said.
"That's right" - the ortho said. "The better is the enemy to the good" (a Polish proverb).

So, we made an appointment for the next week... Thursday afternoon... and I will be braceless...!!

..which also means I'll have been (? ;) ) in braces for exactly 99 weeks!

I starterd my journey HERE,

and here's where I am today:

I know the midline's slightly off, and I will have to have a filling at the back of my top central incissors changed (the "old" one shows), but apart from that (and apart from a terrible flu that I have), it's all SOOO fine! :D

That's brilliant news. I've just started out but it's so encouraging to see people coming out the other side, and with such great teeth too!

I had my braces taken off today!!!!

...and needless to say, I've been waiting almost 2 years for this day...

I must admit this time it hurt a little... i had (HAD... I love the past tense :)) Sapphire brackets, they look nice & clear, but they are horrible to take off. Sometimes i thought my teeth were going to break in two! (especially the top central incissors - the brackets just wouldn't come off!). Also the molar bands weren't that pleasant to take off... a little pain - but what does it mean compared to the result...?!! :D

When I got up from the chair, my first thought before looking into the mirror was "Just don't think your teeth are HUGE, everyone has the same feeling but it's just an illusion, your teeth are not.... OH MY GOD HOW HUGE THEY ARE!!!!" :D

I got a permanent lower retainer, and came back after 5 hours for my top removable one. It's small and quite comfortable, but I lisp sooooo badly!

Surprisingly, people at my work didn't notice anything ;) Only after I smiled and pointed at my teeth, they were like: "Oh.... you look great! Your teeth are so straight!" And then: "How long did you wear them?" and then: "I should get/have got myself braces too, but..." Everybody has the same speech to say ;)

I am so happy with the results! Only my smile maybe could be less gummy, but I guess it's not the ortho's fault.... :)
