Bimax protrusion help

#1 Post by yeetonmeat »

This is my first post on here so im still getting used to it.

Im 18 year old African male who has bimax protrusion and lip incompetence. Ive been wondering what kind of treatment is recommended for it.

I've always had pretty straight teeth and a nice smile but ever since I was little I've had lip incompetence where my lips don't rest together naturally and I have to consciously think about closing my mouth so I don't look stupid. I had Invisalign from 8th grade up until 10th grade. They fixed my "overbite" (which I now know is a symptom of bimax protrusion) and the few small gaps in My teeth but the lip incompetence stayed and protrusion still remained. I also have a recessed chin. Its my biggest insecurity and id like to know if anyone else has struggled with it and how they went about fixing it. Is it possible to fix without extractions? Id like to have a wide smile if possible. Ive also heard that fixing it can make ur face look really flat which I'd also like to avoid. I think it might also be the cause of sleep apnea but I haven't been officially diagnosed for that. And lastly, how much would the treatment cost all together and how long would it last.

Thank you all
