Using Elastics Without Archwire?

#1 Post by chestrockwells »

My orthodontist wants to close my posterior open bite without disturbing the position of my front teeth. To do, he removed the wire from my premolars and back molars, but on the brackets that are still there. He's asking me to wear rubber bands on these un-wired brackets to close the gap. I'm a little skeptical because it seems like it'll move some teeth down more than others. (It's a triangle on one side and a vertical on the other.)

So I was wondering: Has anyone had their orthodontist use rubber bands or elastics without archwire? What were the results like?

I’ve had questions about my elastics but mine are just normal to cure a over jet, best option is to just ask your Orthodontist any questions you have and ask them to explain they should be able to explain to you in more detail to give you a better understanding as everyone is different.

Best of luck
