Including pictures and 3D scans! Please help! Getting conflicting opinions from orthodontists about bicuspid extractions

I’m concerned because I was fully expecting to need 2 extractions on my lower set of teeth, as they’re very crowded. The ortho I’m going with says he wants to create space by shaving other teeth down and shifting everything. Looking at my teeth, I just cannot imagine all my teeth lining up straight withot being extremely flared out. The orthodontist said I should expect some flair-out but that it’s preferrable over extracting. This seemed scary to me because i would expect an orthodontist to want to produce a perfect smile, not compromise initially with an imperfection? I would LOVE to not pull teeth but all the other doctors I’ve seen recommended getting 2 extractions. Should I look for a new orthodontist?

If you trust this orthodontist, discuss the concerns with him including a discrepant opinion. I would try without extractions if his plan makes sense. You can always remove teeth later if plan changes as some here have done.

Having been a victim of extractions (well, one as I realized it was a mistake halfway in) I totally agree with Gia; don't get teeth extracted and see how it goes. You can always decide for extractions later if it's really the only way, but you can't undo them if it turns out they were not necessary. Although, if you do IPR and it's not enough, then extractions might create too much space. Discuss this matter in lenght with your ortho to avoid serious regrets later on...
