Power chain

#1 Post by Braceblues »

I got power chains put on a week ago and everyday since they went on I have had dry cracked lips. Is this from the power chain. Does anyone else get this? I keep using coconut oil or carmax but it’s still there. Any suggestions?

I've had powerchains for almost my entier treatment and I haven't noticed my lips being any dryer. I occasionaly get irritation on the inside of my mouth from the rubbing.

I've had to treat chapped lips for most of my adult life. Here are the products I find to be most effective:

I've only had dry chapped lips in the earlier days of getting braces and they pretty much went away on their own a couple of months into treatment. I didn't notice any more dry chapped lips when I first got powerchains. You could try using a lip sleeping mask at night. Laneige makes a pretty good one that I've been using. Keeps the peeling at bay. It seems quite expensive but you get alot of product and only need a tiny bit each time.

I generally have cracked lips during cold months, with or without powerchains. But I agree that braces (and ligatures and powerchains too) reinforce the phenomenon. Taking a special lip balm is a good idea as Speck has written in the discussion.
