can an ortho who has like hundreds of positive google reviews
fuuck up my teeth?
during my last adjustment couple weeks ago, he adjusted my upper "social six" teeth's brackets. my teeth were slanted, and my upper left central incisor is pulled down a tiny bit more than upper right central incisor
so he adjusted my brackets
now after 2 weeks, my upper left central incisor is pulled down even more ... my canines and premolar on both side are now tipped in at the crown portion...
i can't believe that he would make this kind of "mistake".. i am going in on tuesday to see what he says.. I have a tuesday appt since my lower canine and lower lateral incisor is hurting like flower...
i talked to 3 different other orthos, 1 was willing to take the transfer, 2 others say they don't see big things wrong with my current progress.. (it's just that my current progress is NOT IDEAL!)
my current ortho has like hundreds of positive reviews on google.. i seriously don't know what to think...

How far are you into your treatment? I have only had mine on for 2 weeks but I am under the assumption things might get worse before they get better.
Re: can an ortho who has like hundreds of positive google reviews
i am about 5 and half weeks...

btw, how can you intrude or extrude anterior teeth? as I feel like my right upper teeth somehow are now shorter compared to my left upper...

Yes.
I also experienced that one side shorter/longer than the other issues about a couple months ago. I brought it up tp my ortho who basically told me to wait abit as he was still levelling my bite and fixing my deep bite. Fast forward to a couple months later, that sorted itself out without his intervention.
I guess if several other orthos not related to ortho has mentioned that while not ideal, they are not seeing any big problems with your current progress, I suppose you could wait it out abit. I won't say your ortho has screwed up your teeth especially this early into treatment. I personally also had alot of asymmetries that I noticed around that month 5 mark that was pissing my ocd brain off. These issues are still here now that I'm almost 15 months into my treatment. But my ortho is still working on my bite and the other stuff are minor and can be fixed rather quickly, so I'm not that worried.
That said, it is very important to trust your ortho The best ortho in the world would not necessarily be the best ortho for you if he or she was unable to meet your needs. So it may be worthwhile considering transferring your care to someone you can work with and trust.

Hi Wendy,
You're really early in treatment and I think you need to give your ortho a little time. Looking at your pics; pic #2 in particular, it looks as though you might have a cross-bite and a mid-line shift? See images below. The cross-bite is probably bothering you when you eat, I would imagine. Of course; I'm not an orthodontist, just a patient who's been in treatment for close to 3 years and googles this stuff like crazy. I would make a list of three things that you want the ortho to fix and tell him/her pretty consistently so you're on the same page.

thank you assertives. I have mainly decide to stay with my current ortho is only one other ortho doesn't mind taking over the case (2 others don't want the transfer in the same town...). The one willing to take the in-town transfer basically tells me that she's going to put me on elastics to correct my bite, which is the same as my current ortho's plan. So i don't really want to waste more money and time. However, she did point out all the things wrong I didn't like about my upper arch right now (slanted teeth, some teeth are tipped in), and said she would put me in a heavier wire right away, and put bends in the wire to fix them..assertives wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 1:16 am

i am just hoping my current ortho would fix my upper arch at some point..

thanks kplatt2010, this is another reason i am still staying with my current ortho. I am hoping it's just my OCD acting up, and hoping the things I don't like about my upper teeth are more of small adjustments...kplatt2010 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:03 pm Hi Wendy,

when you say pic #2, are you talking about my before-braces picture? my current ortho did diagnose me with a "brodie bite", which I googled and find very little info about "brodie bite". Verbally, he said that I had a "constricted bite", and my teeth were tipped in. His first step was to "unconstrict" my bite, basically upright my teeth...
I am not sure i had a cross bite. My understanding of a cross bite is when the lower teeth is covers the outside of upper teeth, (see pic below) which I don't think i had...

btw, my bottom midline shifted even further in the wrong direction. That's why my malocclusion got worse. Before braces, i was class I on one side, and class II on another. Now, i am class II on one side, and almost class III on another,...kplatt2010 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 4:03 pm Hi Wendy,

It takes time (lots of time!) for braces to work. Teeth do not always move in a logical manner. My teeth were worse before they got better, and my right front tooth was longer than my left for a long while before my orthodontist fixed it. Trust your orthodontist and give it time. Movement this early is not indicative of the final results.
Braced: April 07, 2017
Debraced: February 08, 2019
Sentence: 18-24 months
Actual time in braces: 22 months and 1 day
Reason: Straighten teeth, correct crossbite and edge-to-edge bite

Brodie bite is also known as a scissor bite. My guess your scissor bite is exhibited in the way your upper and lower first premolar on your left side contact each other.wendydong wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 5:24 pmthanks kplatt2010, this is another reason i am still staying with my current ortho. it's said that brodie bite has no impact on facial profiles, may lead to TMJ as molars don't touch.. I do have TMJ, but my TMJ didn't start until i went on an invisalign express treatment with my ex-dentist trying to correct the crowding in the lower front.
from the picture, it's possible that my left side had a slight brodie bite, as my left lower molar is kinda tipped in..
during my initial consult, my current ortho did suggest that i needed some molar rotation and that's why he suggested braces over invisalign. He said i could do either, but may get a better result with braces.. that's why i went with braces..
The other ortho that i consulted initially didn't mention any brodie bite or molar rotation.. and was perfectly fine with invisalign approach..
