PAIN!!!

#1 Post by KillerJuice »

I got my braces tightened yesterday, and the wire is about 50 inches thicker.
The orthodontist pulled the wire as tight as possible, please give me tips on how to suppress the pain!

Take whatever you would take for a headache!! I take ibuprofen but other medications like Tylenol would work too. and stay away from hard foods since that will only make it worse. stick to food like jello and mashed potatoes.

Orthos don't pull wires tight anymore, its just a heavier wire that might put more force on the teeth, but it should only last for 24hrs. Keep smiling!

Let some ice water sit in your mouth for a bit. Helps numb everything.

Scrambled eggs also really nice soft food. Hang in there.

Dentakit, the company that provides this forum, has some interesting items related to pain control -- see https://www.dentakit.com/brhutr.html . There is something called "orachill" (or something) that would seem promising. I've been out of braces for a while now, but that do-dad would be something I would have seriously considered at the time. Best of luck to you!
