Delayed pain weeks after adjustments?

#1 Post by Sideways »

Has anyone else experienced tooth pain weeks after an adjustment? I typically experience soreness for a few days after an adjustment, then everything's fine for about 3-4 weeks before I start feeling soreness again-- nothing as severe as the initial pain, but enough to make me switch to soups for a few days.

I recently had a power chain put on and my front teeth felt awful for about two days, then nothing. Four weeks later, and my front teeth have suddenly developed a sensitivity to cold air, and my molars feel sore if I press on them. I doubt this is a sudden influx of cavities or broken teeth, but I was under the impression that orthodontic tooth pain typically only happens around adjustment times.

It's normal. It happens to me all the time. The teeth don't all move at the same time. Some move later than others.

Thanks! That's what I figured. There doesn't seem to be much mention of it elsewhere-- most people just say "it hurts at first, then goes away".
