Paresthesia a few months after wisdom tooth surgery

#1 Post by FlowerPower »

I had all 4 wisdom teeth surgically removed in December. I was told that some of them were near the nerve so I may have possible numbness, etc. After my surgery when the swelling went down I did notice some tingling on the left side near my jaw, but only when the area was pressed, like when I would apply makeup to the area with a brush. Since that time it's actually decreased but has concentrated to the upper side of my lower left lip. I didn't notice it at first, until I had braces and I think the braces stick into the area and irritate it. It almost felt like it was going numb at one point but I don't get that sensation much anymore. I can still feel, but any time I rub or lick that area it feels tingly. I didn't know what to make of it until someone mentioned the word paresthesia and that is exacty what I am experiencing.

Have any of you all experienced this? How long did it last?
