The ol' midline-boogaloo!

#1 Post by verso »

I don't even know what that's supppsed to mean -- midline-boogaloo. I'm just in a quirky mood, I guess. I'm on vacation, and I think I'm growing restless.

OK enough of that, then! So here's the dealio: My midline is off, well, pretty significantly I'd say. My two front teeth come down at the very center of one of my front bottom teeth. It's not noticeable when I smile, and, frankly, it doesn't really bother me. It can be "improved," my orthodontist says, but it won't ever be perfect. No big deal.

But what does kind of bother me, or, not bother me but weird me out is the explanation that my orthodontist gave for why it will never be perfect: One side of my lower jaw is longer than the other.

Uh... what? Is this common? How did this happen? Is it developmental? Am I an ogre? Could it be an injury I sustained as a kid? I'm genuinely curious! Anyone have any thoughts or insights?

I suspect it's a normal anatomical variation, as most people are not perfectly symmetrical in many ways most notably in facial structure. One eye slightly higher, one eat that is shaped differently, and so on. Or you could just an ogre. Hard to say :jokerlaugh:

I vote ogre.

My midline is off too, about what yours was. But it's sooo close to perfect now I'm so excited. Improving yours as much as they can will improve your overall bite and where your molars connect with each other, so it's worth doing as much as they can.
