For those who started treatment with one (or more!) really crooked teeth that could not be bracketed at the beginning of your treatment, how long did it take before your ortho was able to put a bracket on the crooked one?
I'm at 3 months (using acceledent) with one very crooked tooth that hasn't budged since treatment started and looks nowhere near close to being able to join the others on the wire.
How long did it take for your ortho to put brackets on "that one crooked tooth?"

I have many crooked teeth but one in particular has proved to be a challenge. When I got the braces on my ortho put a bracket on the tooth but she couldn't attach the archwire. She tied it to the wire with some elastic string. Two days later the bracket came off. I called and was told they would wait until the next appointment (6 weeks later) as there should be more space. As you can see in the photo, if anything I think it's going to be more difficult to put on a bracket, let alone attach it to the archwire. I have no idea what they'll do but it's now only 1 week or so until my appointment so I will let you know what happens.

Totally unrelated question, but what is that lower wire on the inside of your teeth for? I'm just curious. Hope you can get a bracket on that tooth soon! I can see movement already just from those two photos, it's amazing what these little wires can do!

My bottom teeth were really similar to yours when I started with braces. I had 2 teeth that were back too far for the archwire on the first day. One was tied to the archwire with a wire and the other was left alone. At my first adjustment at 8 weeks, that tooth was added to the archwire and the bracket on the other wayward tooth was tied on with a wire. 8 weeks later, that tooth was forced to join the archwire and it moved into place in less than a day (I've been done with braces for over 7 months, but you can still check out my progress photos over on "our braces stories".) Just be patient, there will be room for that tooth as the others shift around.

I have 3 not in the wire and one without a bracket... That's my vampire tooth... I am not sure how we will get the k9 down.... But she's working in fixing my midline first... The other two on bottom she tied with elastic string and springs and I saw a difference in 12 hours... Maybe next time they'll go in wire.. Which would be 12 weeks total

Great to hear other people's experiences, it's reassuring. I just looked at your main thread Professor - your teeth really were similar to mine; there is hope for me then haha !
The wire I have behind my teeth is apparently called a "controlled arch". I can't find a lot of information about it online but I think it's supposed to keep the molars from rotating/to stabalise them. Not really sure but at my orthodontist it's standard.

Patience is wearing thin for this one tooth... now at 5 months and while there is now plenty of space and every other tooth is straight on that arch, it is still just too crooked (almost 90 degrees) to get on the wire. Appointment tomorrow and I'm going to ask what the game plan is.

Woo hoo I can stop complaining now! The crooked tooth is officially on the move. No bracket yet but there is a button that is attached to a couple neighboring teeth using a power chain. Once there is enough surface area it will get a bracket. I'm obviously hoping for next appointment but just happy to have some movement started after waiting all this time!
